2. Why it's listed (and the honest reality)
Venezuela holds the world's largest proven oil reserves, has a large diaspora and Arab community, and β on paper β astonishingly low USD prices. We include it so the database is complete across the Americas.
The reality, plainly: Venezuela is in a prolonged political and economic crisis, under US/EU sanctions, with hyperinflation, collapsed public services, serious personal-safety risk, and Level 4 "Do Not Travel" advisories from both the US and Canada (including wrongful-detention risk). Banking is severely constrained by sanctions and capital controls.
We do not recommend relocation, property purchase, or investment in Venezuela under current conditions. If you have family or business ties, work only with specialist legal/sanctions counsel.
3. Visas & Residency
Investor and family pathways nominally exist, but bureaucratic, sanctions, and safety realities make them impractical for most foreigners today. Treat any plan as requiring specialist legal advice.
4. Tax, Money & Banking
- Tax: Worldwide in principle, but the functioning context is dominated by sanctions and currency collapse.
- Banking: Severely restricted by sanctions and capital controls; international transfers are problematic.
5β9. Cost / Safety / Healthcare / Property / Lifestyle
- Safety: Level 4 β Do Not Travel. This overrides every other consideration.
- Healthcare: Public system has collapsed in many areas; private care limited; evacuation is the only realistic plan for serious cases.
- Property/STR: Not advisable β legal, sanctions, and liquidity risk are extreme.

11. Bottom line
Not recommended at this time. Included for reference and for those with existing ties who are working with specialist counsel. Monitor for a future change in conditions.
Verified 2026-06. Conditions are volatile β always rely on current official travel advisories and specialist legal/sanctions advice.
